Information Technology at Annenberg
What's New?
A lot has changed at Annenberg in the past few months. We hope you'll take a look at our July/August issue of Technews for more details, but here's a quick overview.
- Staff Restructuring
As part of an internal review, ASC has been restructuring its IT department. We've divided IT into smaller units focusing on core engineering, digital media, instructional technology, and, help desk. This past summer, we started to build and develop these units.
- Core engineering focuses on server and network management and security. This includes the reliability of resources such as email and web as well as network printing, file sharing, and data management.
- Instructional technology supports and manages projectors, sound systems, VCRs, DVDs, and all the electronic equipment in our classrooms.
- Digital media supports all aspects of audio visual media conversion and production including still images, archival recordings, and video production.
- The help desk ties all our services together by accepting all new requests, assigning them to our staff, and tracking our support tickets through their resolution. It is the first tier support system for our users.
- Wireless PennNet
We have WiFi signal available throughout the building.
- Other Service Improvements
- Students received new computers
- Server virtualization
- Improved Outlook Web Access
- Bandwidth improvements
- Shadow copies to restore your files more quickly.
- Improved VPN access
