Tuesday, September 21, 2004
PhD student, Kate Kenski was quoted in the New York Times, Sunday, September 19, 2004 on the subject of the gender gap in political knowledge which she has been tracking for years. In the “Political Points” column (section 1, page 24), John Tierney cites her press release. He writes, "Why the gap? Kate Kenski, a senior analyst at the Annenberg Public Policy Center, which conducted the poll, said one reason is the way the campaign has been covered. 'Reporters' obsession with the horse race rather than the substance of politics is likely to be more of interest to men, who pay more attention to sports than women,' she said." The press release on the topic was based on data from the 2004 National Annenberg Election Survey.
