Wednesday, October 13, 2004

Professor Vincent Price was an invited speaker at a University of Southern California Law School symposium on “The 2004 Election: What does it mean for Campaigns and Governance.” The October 8 symposium, co-sponsored by the USC/Caltech Center for the Study of Law and Politics and the USC Initiative and Referendum Institute, focused on a variety of issues including campaign financing; the initiative and referendum process; polarized voters and politics; political communications; the media, and the Internet. Invited speakers included leading academic researchers from around the country, political consultants, representatives of the Federal Election Commission, media editors, and politicians, including Senator Bob Graham (D-FL). Professor Price spoke about the rise of cable news, politically charged entertainment media, the “blogosphere,” and political learning in the new electoral communication environment.
