Annenberg cosponsors lecture and discussion on

Professor Jay Rosen of New York University's Department of Journalism discussed "Why the Bloggers Matter if You Care About Democracy and the Press," highlighting changes in the media resulting from the recent popularity of internet blogs about current political issues. Jay Rosen is a press critic and writer whose primary focus is the media's role in a democracy. A member of the NYU faculty since 1986, he teaches courses in media criticism, cultural journalism, press ethics and the journalistic tradition, among other subjects. The event was cosponsored by the Annenberg School for Communication and the Public Interest Research Workshop of the Department of Anthropology.
