Annenberg Students visit U.S. Supreme Court
Wednesday, December 07, 2005
Kathryn Kolbert, who teaches a Supreme Court Advocacy course at the Annenberg School, visited the United States Supreme Court this week with 15 of her students, to hear the oral argument in
Rumsfeld v. Forum for Academic and Institutional Rights . Arriving at 4 a.m., the students waited in line outside the Court in order to hear the challenge to the "Solomon Amendment," federal legislation requiring the U.S. Department of Defense to deny federal funding to institutions of higher education that prohibit or prevent ROTC or military recruitment on campus.
Following the argument, the students returned to the Annenberg Public Policy Center in Washington to meet with Richard McEwen, an activist who helped organize the case and opposition to military recruitment while attending law school at N.Y.U.
