Annenberg mourns the passing of former faculty member Ilona Gerbner

The Annenberg School for Communication mourns the passing of Ilona Gerbner, wife of former Dean George Gerbner, and Annenberg faculty member for over 25 years as a lecturer and senior lecturer. She taught the undergraduate Theatre Lab, and directed many plays produced at the University of Pennsylvania.
The faculty and staff of the Annenberg School for Communication express their deepest sympathies to the Gerbner family.
The following is her obituary, printed in Sunday's edition of the
Philadelphia Inquirer :
"Ilona (Kutas) Gerbner, on Dec. 8, 2005, of Philadelphia. Loving wife of George Gerbner and mother of John (Anne) and Thomas (Kathie McDermott). Also survived by her grandchildren, Katharine, Elizabeth Ilona, Emily, Zachary and Jake.
"Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service, 3 P.M., Saturday, Dec. 17th at Bringhurst Funeral Home at West Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Women's Way, 1233 Locust St., Phila. PA 19107 or American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Phila. 19102."
