The Annenberg School for Communication, along with the
Annenberg Scholars Program in Culture and Communication hosted guest speaker Frank J. Lindh, J.D., for a public lecture about the federal case against his son, John Walker Lindh.
John Walker Lindh, a 25 year-old from California, was captured in Northern Afghanistan in December of 2001 while fighting for the Taliban. Walker Lindh was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a U.S. Court, and has an appeal pending with President Bush for commutation of sentence.

Lindh published an
article in
Washington Lawyer describing his son's story and the circumstances of the case.
The Annenberg Scholars Program in Culture and Communication was established at the Annenberg School for Communication, in December 2004, as a forum dedicated to thinking about critical social and scholarly issues that lie at the intersection of culture and communication.
Lectures such as this focus both scholarly and public attention on the critical role of culture and communication in shaping public life.
