Annenberg Professor Katherine Sender's documentary to be screened at L.A. Film Festival

Further Off the Straight and Narrow, a documentary by Katherine Sender, Ph.D., an assistant professor at the Annenberg School for Communication, will be shown during "Outfest 07," the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, which takes place July 12 - 23. Dr. Sender's film, which she directed, will be screened July 16 at 7 p.m. at the Barnsdall Theatre. Fast-paced and peppered with lively TV clips, Further Off the Straight and Narrow has been described as a "thoroughly engaging documentary that screams 'we've come a long way, baby!'" Set against a backdrop of political and social issues affecting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transvestite (LGBT) community, the documentary takes a close look at current and recent sitcoms, reality shows and premium cable programming, exploring the complex and varied representations of LGBT characters that have appeared on television in recent years.
