It is with great sadness that we report that Annenberg alumna
Anca Romantan (Ph.D. ’04), an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, died April 14, 2008 at her home in Massachusetts.
She had been battling lung cancer for the past 18 months. Anca received her Ph.D. from Annenberg in 2004, was research director on the CECCR project for two years, and has been at the University of Massachusetts Communication department since September of 2006. A dedicated teacher, Anca was in the classroom the week before her death.
Anca will be greatly missed by her husband Cornel, her family, and all of us who knew her. She was a wonderful scholar and a wonderful person.
Condolence messages for her family are being collected through a memorial website (click on the link above). We are collecting stories and photos of Anca to be put together in a book for her husband and family. Additional information will be forthcoming about a memorial service on May 19, following the Annenberg graduation ceremony.
