Book by Prof. Zelizer wins award from AEJMC

About to Die: How News Images Move the Public (Oxford 2010) by Annenberg’s Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication, has won the Tankard Book Award from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
 

The AEJMC Standing Committee on Research administers The Tankard Book Award competition. Nominated books, which can be co-authored or co-edited, must be well written and break new ground. Books by the finalists are displayed at the AEJMC summer conventions.

The first Tankard Book Award was presented in 2007. The award is named in honor of Dr. James Tankard, Jr., posthumous recipient of AEJMC’s 2006 Eleanor Blum Distinguished Service to Research Award, former editor of Journalism Monograph, long-time University of Texas at Austin journalism professor, and author or co-author of five books, including Communication Theories: Origins, Methods, Uses and How To Build Social Science Theories.
