The Annenberg School for Communication: Children & Media

About Us: Our Project

The Children's Media Lab at the Annenberg School for Communication is comprised of researchers interested in determining ways to improve the quality of media for children.

Through rigorous program evaluations and research projects, we are working to provide media developers and families with information that contributes both to the design and use of children's media.

Funded in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, we are currently taking an in depth look at the role traditional and new media play in supporting the language and literacy skills of young children. Through this work, we hope to distill a list of best practices that media developers can employ when creating curriculum-based media products. Furthermore, we are continuously working to translate our research into practice in order to provide parents with the tools necessary to select developmentally appropriate content that contributes to a healthy media diet.
