Matt Lapierre & Sarah Vaala, doctoral candidates at the Annenberg School for Communication and researchers within the Children’s Media Lab, were recently selected to present their work at the 136th American Public Health Association Meeting & Exposition. Their paper, titled “Tricking the tastebuds: The influence of spokes-characters on children's assessment of taste”, focuses on how spokes-characters influence young children’s subjective report of taste. Results from their work provide evidence that usage of kid-friendly characters on products can have a powerful impact on children’s assessments of these products.
