Marwan M. Kraidy, Ph.D.
The University of Pennsylvania’s Board of Trustees has approved the promotion of Annenberg’s
Marwan M. Kraidy to full professor.
Prof. Kraidy is a scholar of global communication and an expert on Arab media and politics. Prior to joining Annenberg he was a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the founding director of the Arab Media and Public Life project at American University, both in Washington, D.C. He is the author of
Hybridity or the Cultural Logic of Globalization(Temple University Press, 2005), the award-winning work
Reality Television and Arab Politics: Contention in Public Life (Cambridge University Press, 2010),
Arab Television Industries (British Film Institute/Palgrave Macmillan, with Joe Khalil), and is the co-editor (with Annenberg’s Katherine Sender, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication) of
The Politics of Reality Television: Global Perspectives (Routledge, 2010).
