Penn-In-Beijing Summer Abroad
The Penn-In-Beijing Summer Abroad Program is co-developed by the Center for Global
Communication Studies at the Annenberg School for Communication and the College
of General Studies. In the summer of 2008 (May 26-June 20) undergraduate students
had a first-hand look at media effects, the Beijing Olympics, and issues in culture
and intellectual property in a Chinese and comparative context.
One advantage of this program is its inclusion of Chinese students, from Tsinghua
University, learning side-by-side with the Penn students in the classroom. The course
content is also enriched with a series of cultural excursions that take place on
Fridays and Saturdays.
Costs:
Participants in the program pay a tuition fee for both courses, and a program fee
which covers the cultural activities program, residence in a hotel, and most meals.
Students are expected to cover the costs of their visa and airplane tickets independently.
The tuition and program fees will be available by the end of November.
Summer 2009 Program
Plans for the Summer 2009 Penn in Beijing are being developed. Please check back
in November 2008 for more information.
