Preparing for Influenza at Penn

There are no hard and fast set rules regarding the people whom Annenberg accepts, but we can say that most successful applicants present the following profile:

  • A concise statement of purpose describing your academic and professional background, interests, and preparation in the social sciences, the humanities and other studies. It explains what career objectives an Annenberg degree would help realize. It discusses the potential research area or topic fit with the Annenberg School for Communication faculty or research centers.
  • A GRE verbal and quantitative score of over 500 with a writing score of 4.5 or higher.
  • TOEFL or IELTS score that demonstrates English competence (for non-native English speaking candidates only).
  • Solid academic transcripts. The GPA is considered as well as the course load and relative degree of course difficulty.
  • Recommendations from people who can discuss the applicant’s ability to complete doctoral study and describe previous scholarly work.
  • A C.V. or resume tailored for an academic application.
