Turkish television drama is one of the leading global media phenomena of the last decade. In this virtual, invitation-only workshop, CARGC scholars and others will share their research on the global life of Turkish television drama, grappling with questions such as:

  • What is the political economy of production and distribution behind the global commercial success of Turkish television drama?
  • How does the viewer experience of watching Turkish drama vary between contexts?
  • How have various national spheres debated Turkish drama as a social phenomenon that animates historical grievances and geopolitical sentiments?
