America250: Understanding the First Amendment, media, civic literacy and engagement as building blocks of a more perfect union

The American idea (and ideal) has been enshrined through various mythologies about free expression, democracy and the power of the people. But the work of democracy is often more laborious and requires a deeper understanding of how civic literacy and engagement, as well as First Amendment freedoms, are framed by our media institutions. This conversation features insights from media, academic and civic leaders in the Philadelphia area, highlighting the work that we can do to help our communities be better informed of their constitutional rights and more easily able to participate in our civic and democratic processes.
