Join us at The Beluga, Cape Town on Friday, June 5th from 5:00-7:00pm for a celebration of Sarah J. Jackson’s (Annenberg–Penn) new book, A Second Sight (Mariner). A sweeping cultural and political history of Black mediamakers and their role in shaping, and challenging, the American public imagination. Drawing on W. E. B. Du Bois’s concept of “second sight,” the book weaves media history, communication theory, and dozens of interviews to show how Black media visionaries have long pushed the nation toward its unrealized democratic promises.
Copies of the book will be available at the event in advance of its U.S. publication on June 16. Canapés and drinks will be served for attendees.
