The Media Activism Research Collective will hold a Works in Progress session on Thursday, September 15, at noon in Annenberg room 224. Students and faculty working at the intersection of media and activism from across Penn and beyond are welcomed to attend. Our speakers will be:

Jasmine Erdener: Jasmine spent 9 weeks this summer living (in a tent), working, and researching at Bread and Puppet, a radical puppet theater in northern Vermont that is one of the oldest theater companies in the US.  She will be discussing the experience of living there, thinking about that experience in regards to the historical narrative, and about whether Bread and Puppet represents a space outside the ordinary norms and values of everyday life.  Also photos and video of performances and life on the farm!

Sanjay Jolly: Sanjay will discuss the role of Philadelphia-based activists in media reform movements over the last twenty years. He will also facilitate a conversation about Philly's current media activism scene and different ways academics might engage in that space.

Lunch will be served. Please RSVP here, by Monday, September 12th.
