Annenberg's John L. Jackson, Jr. and Marwan M. Kraidy promoted

The Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania has approved promotions for two members of the Annenberg School for Communication faculty.  John L. Jackson, Jr. has been promoted to full professor, and Marwan Kraidy has been promoted to associate professor with tenure.

Professor Jackson is the Richard Perry University Professor of Communication and Anthropology and is the first Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) professor in the University’s history. His current project, a study of Black Hebrew Israelites in New York, Washington, D.C., and Israel, constructs a globally-diverse spiritual subjectivity. In addition to his research, he is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies at Annenberg.

Professor Kraidy is a scholar of global communication and an expert on Arab media and politics. His next two books, Reality Television and Arab Politics: Contention in Public Life and Arab Television Industries, will be published in October and November of this year.
