Alumna Rebecca Kaplan (C '10) to Speak at Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony

Rebecca Kaplan (C ’10), a reporter for the National Journal currently covering the 2012 Presidential Campaign, will be the guest speaker at the Annenberg School for Communication’s undergraduate graduation ceremony, Sunday, May 13 at 10 a.m. in the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts’ Zellerbach Theatre, 3680 Walnut Street, Philadelphia.   Ms. Kaplan graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2010 with a double major in Communications and Public Service and Diplomatic History and a minor in Spanish. She worked on the staff of the Daily Pennsylvanian all four years of college, eventually serving as the Campus News Editor and then the Managing Editor. Ms. Kaplan currently works as a 2012 campaign embed for CBS News and National Journal, for which she has covered Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum extensively. Prior to hitting the campaign trail, she worked on National Journal’s White House team as a staff writer.   At her own graduation ceremony in 2010, Ms. Kaplan was the co-recipient (with Alyssa Schwenk) of the D. David Eisenhower Award, which recognizes the outstanding honors thesis by graduating seniors.   Previous speakers at Annenberg’s undergraduate graduation ceremony have included Vanessa Bayer (C ’04), a featured player on the NBC television program “Saturday Night Live,” who was the 2011 speaker, and Trang Do (C ’06) currently a reporter for the FOX news affiliate in York, Pa. who addressed graduates in 2010.
