Dean Michael X. Delli Carpini was quoted in Annapolis's The Capital, online edition, on the subject of elected officials using blogs to communicate with their constituents.

"It's not just a fad," said Michael X. Delli Carpini, an expert on political communication and dean of the Annenberg School of Communication in Pennsylvania. "It's becoming a more integral part of the way elected officials interact and communicate with their constituents."

Delli Carpini was responding to the launching of County Councilman Josh Cohen's blog, the only blog, or online diary, written by an Anne Arundel County Council member. While some think it's barely a blip on the Internet map and that most people aren't going to be bothered to keep track of an elected official's daily thoughts, Dr. Delli Carpini points out, "Not everyone goes to a town hall meeting. That does not mean a town hall meeting is not valuable."
