Doctoral student Debora Lui is the recipient of a $10,000 Mister Rogers Memorial Scholarship, presented by the Television Academy Foundation.
The Television Academy Foundation's Mister Rogers Memorial Scholarship Program awards four $10,000 scholarships to graduate students to support and encourage them to pursue a career in children’s media and further the values and principles of Fred Rogers’ work. The scholarships are project-based and are not to be used for tuition.
In addition to the monetary award, successful applicants are mentored by children’s programming professionals during the academic year. Mentors are identified from the Television Academy’s Los Angeles or New York membership and assigned based on proximity to the recipient. The mentor and the recipient will communicate in person, by phone and by e-mail on a regular basis.
Three of the Mister Rogers Memorial Scholarships are made possible through the generous underwriting of Ernst & Young. The Grable Foundation sponsors one scholarship (New Media for Children) specifically for students in the Pittsburgh area.
