The schedule of speakers for the 2011 Martin Fishbein Memorial Seminar Series has been announced. The Seminar Series was created by the Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) to celebrate the life and academic achievements of the late Martin Fishbein, Ph.D., the Harry C. Coles, Jr. Professor of Communication, who passed away in November 2009. The lecture series is co-sponsored by the Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research, the Center for Health Behavior Research, and the Center for AIDS Research.
“The series helps establish the APPC and the University of Pennsylvania as a locus for reasoned action research by sponsoring a series of events in which the invited speakers – as well as audience members – are researchers who use reasoned action theory in a way that extends the span of their research by incorporating new behaviors and including previously unstudied populations,” said Michael Hennessy, Ph.D., project manager and statistician in the Health Communication Group at APPC.
Seminars are by invitation only. Most events take place at APPC from noon to 1:30 p.m. This year’s line-up of speakers includes:
- February 10: James Jaccard
- Thursday, February 24: Dolores Albarracin
- Wednesday, March 16: Susan Middlestadt
- April- (Time to be determined): Amy Bleakley
- Thursday, May 19: Caryn Lerman
