Turow Participates in FTC Panel on Big Data

Professor Joseph Turow was, on September 15, a panelist for a U.S. Federal Trade Commission conference in Washington D.C. titled “Big Data: A Tool for Inclusion or Exclusion.”

The day-long conference explored the use of “big data” and its impact on American consumers, including low-income and underserved consumers.

Professor Turow has studied this topic in depth; he most recently wrote The Daily You: How the New Advertising Industry Is Defining Your Identity and Your Worth (Yale University Press, 2011), which chronicled the emergence of the use of big data in marketing and its potential impact on society.

During the conference Professor Turow was panelist for “Assessing the Current Environment.”
