Elizabeth Harris studies how people's political identities can bias how much they believe and how willing they are to share fake news that they find on social media.

Elizabeth Harris’s interdisciplinary research largely focuses on investigating how people's social identities, particularly partisanship, affect their belief in and sharing of misinformation online. She is also interested in the functions and motivations behind misinformation sharing, in how social media may exacerbate political polarization, and in the generalizability and communication of psychological research.
