Hong Chen, Ph.D.

Visiting Scholar, Annenberg School for Communication

Hong Chen, Ph.D, is a Visiting Scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication and Professor and Associate Dean of Communication School at East China Normal University, where she is a member of Commission of Teaching Instruction of the Ministry of Education and vice president of Chinese Public Opinion Association. She is also a selected member of Ministry of Education New Century Talents Support Program (2011) and selected member of Shanghai Pu Jiang Talents Support Program (2010).

Her research areas cover new media and society, public opinion, global communication and crisis communication. In the past few years, she has published several academic monographs and dozens of academic articles on relevant subjects. She translated the English work “Crisis Communication” into Chinese, and the volume was published by Fudan University Press in 2013. She is chief editor of New Media and Society Journal (2011-) and Public Opinion Research Journal (2016-), which are published by Social Science Academic Press.

Hong Chen is a Professor and Associate Dean of Communication School at East China Normal University and a Visiting Scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication.
