Ying Zhou is a Ph.D. candidate in cinema and cultural & creative industries at the College of Media and International Culture, Zhejiang University of China. She received her master’s degree in Journalism and Communication from Wuhan University of Technology in 2015. She is also an executive editor of the academic journal China Media Report in Institute of Communication Studies, Zhejiang University.
Her research is basically focused on Chinese Cinema studies, especially on Huallywood Cinema studies from the perspective of Media Geography; the communication theory research in which the Asian communication studies are involved in her on-going doctoral dissertation.
Zhou has published some articles on those subjects in journals such as Contemporary Communication, Journalism Bimonthly, Zhejiang Social Sciences etc. She has also contributed chapters to book Asian Communication Theory: Asian Perspective in International Communication Studies, An Introduction to Huallywood Cinema (both edited by Shao, Peiren). Currently, she is engaged in book Huallywood Cinema: Media Geography Perspective. She is a research fellow for the 2015 National Social Science Foundation project on “Chinese Dream” Cinema Creation and Communication Strategies.
