Michael Brumm
- Doctoral Student
Michael Brumm is interested in what happens to political information when it enters the late-night joke machine. He studies how production decisions transform news into comedy, and what that transformation means for public understanding.
Prior to joining the Annenberg School for Communication, Michael was a former Senior Producer and Writer for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and a six-time Emmy-winning television writer and producer. He previously served as a Consulting Producer on "At Home with Amy Sedaris" and wrote for "The Colbert Report." In addition to his television work, Michael is the author of "The Cryptid Club," a four-book graphic novel series for children published by HarperAlley. He also contributed to the New York Times bestselling books "I Am America (And So Can You!)" and "America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t."
