Mohammed A. Salih is a doctoral student at the Annenberg School for Communication. He is primarily interested in extremist movements in the Middle East, and also the intersection of media, politics, and culture in that region. Prior to joining AnnenbergSalih worked for a number of years as a freelance journalist covering the Islamic State conflict as well as reporting on Kurdish and Iraqi affairs for international news outlets such as Inter Press Service (IPS), Al Jazeera English, Al-Monitor, Foreign Policy, Christian Science MonitorFRANCE24, and Newsweek Middle East.

He has also published analytical pieces with Middle East Institute and The Washington Institute for Near East Policy on local politics of Iraqi Kurdistan.
