2020-21 Staff Information

In response to guidelines issued by the state and the University of Pennsylvania aimed at ensuring the health and safety of our school community, Annenberg buildings will operate under certain rules and protocols through the end of summer 2021, and non-essential workers will continue to work remotely until they are gradually phased in during the month of August.

Vaccine Requirement

As announced by the University on June 1, all current faculty, staff, and postdocs are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than August 1, 2021. The University will be announcing a system to record their COVID-19 vaccination status securely and confidentially in Workday.

Building Access

Month of June

Staff who need access to the building during the month of June should complete the Staff Building Access Survey. In the Notes field, please include the day and time of the requested visit. Please note that requests will require justification and supervisor approval. When possible, please allow at least 48 hours for processing of requests.

If granted building access, please note that the use of PennOpen Pass is required for entry into all campus buildings. A green “CLEARED” Penn COVID Day Pass must be presented and viewed by building security upon each visit in order to be allowed entry. In addition, proper social distancing protocols must be followed, and masks must be worn at all times. Building access will be granted to the requesting staff member only, not to any accompanying family or friends.

Month of July

Remote work will continue for staff throughout the month of July. However, beginning Tuesday, July 6, staff will have the option to return to campus to work in the building at their discretion and in agreement with their manager. On days when staff are not in the office, they will continue to work remotely. Staff who wish to return to a full-time, in-person schedule in July may do so.

Further, the building will fully reopen to the Annenberg community on Tuesday, July 6 at 8 a.m., and requests for access will no longer be required. Members of the school community are welcome to enter the building on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The building is closed on Sundays. (These hours are subject to change.) Admittance will be for active PennCard holders only, by card reader access at the Walnut Street entrance.

Month of August

By communicating with their manager to establish a schedule that works best for the individual staff member and supervisor (as well as for other team members, where applicable), staff will begin returning to campus in August under a tiered launch:

  • Week of August 2:   Return to campus one day
  • Week of August 9:    Return to campus two days
  • Week of August 16:  Return to campus three days
  • Week of August 23:  Return to campus four days

August 30 and Beyond

The plans for our staff schedule for the week of August 30 and the fall semester are still being finalized.
