Spring 2021 Undergraduate Student Information
The following information applies to undergraduate Communication majors as well as other undergraduates enrolled in Communication classes during Spring 2021. The College of Arts and Sciences also regularly posts information for students.
Academic Policies
Penn’s and Annenberg’s normal grading and course registration (add, drop, withdrawal, and pass/fail) policies will resume.
Advising
Undergraduates can sign up for virtual advising appointments with Kim Woolf or Alison Feather.
Building Access
Limiting the number of people in the Annenberg School building is imperative to the health and safety of our community. Since communication courses will be delivered virtually, and the library is closed, undergraduates will not be permitted to enter the building for any reason, including to study.
Note: The University Registrar's office controls scheduling in ASC lecture room 110. In the event that any non-COMM, in person classes get assigned to that room, undergraduates enrolled in those classes will be permitted access to the building for the sole purpose of class attendance.
Coursework
All ASC courses will be conducted virtually with an emphasis on synchronous instruction but with the possibility for asynchronous learning as needed due to time zone, technology, or health issues. Instructors will be in contact with their students about how each course will operate.
If You Are Sick
Any student who is showing COVID-19 symptoms, has tested positive, or has health-related questions, can call Penn’s Student Health Service at 215-746-3535 for guidance. Students outside of the Philadelphia region can still contact Student Health, or they can contact their provider closer to home. Penn Student Health Insurance covers students anywhere they go.
Students who are unable to participate in classes remotely due to illness should email their instructors.
For more health guidance, please read Information and Guidance and Risks, Symptoms, and How to Get Help at the University's COVID-19 site.
Library Access
The Annenberg School Library will be closed for the Spring 2021 semester, but Annenberg library staff are available remotely to assist with research, Canvas courseware support, streaming, and e-book requests.
All Penn Libraries materials will be picked up outside of Van Pelt-Dietrich Library and arranged through Pickup at Penn. For the latest on this and other library services, consult the main library homepage as well as the Phased Service Availability FAQ. Please email Katie Rawson with any questions.
Other Concerns
If Communication majors or undergraduates enrolled in Communication classes have any other concerns not addressed here, please contact Litty Paxton, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies.
