We are shaping a future where communication scholarship is bold, collaborative, and engaged with the world. Our intellectual ecosystem is designed to bring together people, ideas, and infrastructure. The Annenberg School for Communication’s groundbreaking faculty and researchers make and shape the field.
Our research networks are at the heart of this vision. They are organized around four core areas:
Health Communication
Politics, Policy, and Institutions
Cultural Inquiry
Computational Social Science
These networks empower faculty, students, and staff to co-create knowledge, share resources, and develop practices that drive both academic and societal progress.
Incubators for transformative ideas
Our centers and labs serve as incubators for transformative ideas, offering platforms for experimentation and engagement. Whether through immersive media experimentation, archival exploration, or computational analysis, our centers and labs embody our commitment to multimodal, interdisciplinary research that makes a difference in the world.
We believe in the power of convening. Through conferences, screenings, exhibitions, and public talks — both on campus and around the world — we create spaces for dialogue and discovery. These events bring together journalists, community leaders, industry experts, and scholars to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and imagine new possibilities.
Collaborations across Penn and beyond
We are collaborating across Penn and beyond to amplify our collective power and wisdom. We are proud and fortunate to be part of the University’s system of 12 schools and numerous centers. We have joint appointments, shared research centers and academic programs, and active research collaborations with many of our colleagues at Penn and other universities. We will continue to leverage our expertise to find new solutions together, embracing the challenging, transformative work of interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
