Center for Media at Risk Colloquium: BlackStar Filmmaker Lab Spotlight
- Annenberg School, Room 108
Conversation with Bettina Escauriza and Sydney Rodriguez, moderated by Farrah Rahaman
About the Talk
Getting independent film funded and supported is no easy feat. The BlackStar Philadelphia Filmmaker Lab is an opportunity for cultivating cutting edge production in film and video work. Designed to uplift emerging and mid-career artists in the Greater Philadelphia area, the lab supports projects by Black, Brown and Indigenous filmmakers through making equipment, space, crew, mentorship, funding and critical feedback available over the course of a 12-month program.
Join the Center for Media at Risk for a short film screening and discussion spotlighting BlackStar's role as an emergent hub for film production. The event will feature a screening of Tonight We Eat Flowers, followed by a conversation with the film's creator and Blackstar Lab Film Director Bettina Escauriza, Blackstar Film Festival Lab Producer and Artist Programs Manager Sydney Rodriguez and BlackStar Curatorial and Research Fellow, and Doctoral Student Farrah Rahaman. This event will take place in person at the Annenberg School for Communication. Lunch will be provided.
