Sam Frederick is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Polarization Research Lab. In his work, he examines partisanship and affective polarization among American politicians and explores how partisan social norms shape polarization. 

Sam Frederick is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Polarization Research Lab at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. 

In his research, he employs survey and field experiments to explore the causes and consequences of affective polarization among American politicians. In particular, he is interested in understanding how partisan social norms form and shape partisan conflict.  

His work is supported by grants from the Russell Sage Foundation, the Rapoport Family Foundation, the Eisenhower Institute, and the Center for Effective Lawmaking. His research has been published in American Politics Research and The Journal of Social Computing.
