
Anna Murphy

- Doctoral Student
Anna Murphy researches global news production, with a primary focus on the MENA region. Her interests draw from journalism, critical political economy, and cultural studies. She also focuses on agency and inequality in modern media practices.
Her research questions draw from sociological and critical political economy frameworks, as well as cultural and post-colonial studies. She has a particular interest in understandings of agency and power in journalism. She also researches how digital and social media platforms operate in high-risk press landscapes. Her research primarily focuses on the MENA region.
Anna holds a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from Brown University and an M.Sc . in Politics and Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was previously a Fulbright Fellow based in Turkey.
