Lizzie Martin is a joint Ph.D. student at the Annenberg School for Communication and the Department of Political Science interested in international political communication and diplomacy. Martin comes to the University of Pennsylvania after receiving a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Through the Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative, she also spent two years as a graduate fellow at the U.S. Department of State, serving in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, as well as at the U.S. Mission to the International Organizations in Vienna and in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. An alum of the Princeton University Bridge Year Program, Lizzie completed nine months of service work and language study in northern India before earning an A.B. in public policy, creative writing, and South Asian studies.
