This panel will consider the diverse archival and journalistic practices that activists and media practitioners deployed before and following the election of Donald Trump. It will dig into the political machinery and norm-breaking behaviors that are entangled with presidential power in the United States.

About the Speakers 

Defender of democracy, activist for women’s rights, and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Amy Siskind is best known as the author of The Weekly List and as President of The New Agenda, a non-profit dedicated to the advancement of women. On Twitter she is @Amy_Siskind. 

Jay Rosen has been teaching journalism at New York University since 1986. Rosen is the author of PressThink, a blog about journalism and its ordeals (www.pressthink.org), which he introduced in September 2003. His book, What Are Journalists For? (Yale University Press 1999), is about the rise of the civic journalism movement. Rosen is also an active press critic with a focus on problems in the coverage of politics. Leah Wright Rigueur is Associate Research Professor at the SNF Agora Institute and in the Department of History at Johns Hopkins University. Her research expertise includes 20th Century American political and social history, modern African American history, race, politics, civil rights, contemporary social movements, political ideologies and institutions, and the American presidency.
