About the Digital Exhibit:
From NSSC to ICA: 75 Years of the International Communication Association is a digital exhibition that traces the evolution of the ICA from its founding in 1950 to the present. Originally formed as a forum for instructors of the “communication course” during the Great Depression, the NSSC grew into a space for industrial communication experts and educators.
In 1969, it officially became the International Communication Association. This digital project explores how ICA has pursued internationalization and worked—if unevenly—to include critical and humanistic voices in the field. Organized by decade, the exhibit offers a timeline of transformation, expansion, and reflection within the association and the broader communication
