Tal Orian Harel studies how digital communication and psychological processes shape political discourse, public opinion, and polarization in divided societies, with current work focusing on justifications for affective polarization.

Tal Orian Harel is a visiting scholar whose research spans digital communication and political psychology. Her work investigates how people form political opinions, how online spaces mediate political conversations, and how attitudes transform during conflicts and crises. Using mixed-methods approaches including surveys, experiments, and text analysis, her research has appeared in Social Media + Society, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Political Psychology, and other leading journals. Her current work at Annenberg focuses on understanding justifications for affective polarization and exploring interventions to reduce political hostility
